We’ve been using Benfield Fire for our fire training for 3 care homes we own in Fareham. We had previously used another training company for some years, but had received negative feedback from the staff (170 or so of them) regarding the relevance of the content, the interest of the subject matter and the style of the training delivery.
We interviewed several other fire companies. We chose Benfield because they were the most professional of those we saw and their content was the most user friendly. We actually felt that due to the interesting and relevant way they trained our staff – goggles that filled with smoke as simulators, “faux” fires in rooms they had to extinguish and actual evacuations – that if the staff ever came across a fire, they would actually remember and know what to do to treat it with the safest solution. The latest technology and innovations Jason and his team were prepared to invest in, in order to make the training seem as real as possible, was one of the main reasons we decided to contract with his training services. The feedback we’ve received from the staff since could not be better. They are actually interested in attending and feel that they learn something from the content. The evacuations aren’t as scary as they sound either – obviously for us, we could not conduct a mock evacuation of our residents, but the staff can be trained on how to do so and it has really helped them to feel confident in the event of an emergency.
Jason’s professional approach means that we further instructed him to conduct and write the fire evacuation plans for each of our care homes too. They are thorough and easy to follow guides for all to use and for us as owners to see where we need to make changes/invest.
